Panther Families-
I know Monday mornings are always stressful, and it looks like I have created the Monday of all Monday mornings. I am sorry for the stress, frustration, and difficulties I caused each of you this morning. I know I threw a major wrench into your normal routine, and I apologize for that. After driving yesterday, I felt confident we could have onsite school today, but after driving this morning, I was clearly mistaken. As I was driving around this morning outside of town, the roads were in good shape, but when I got into town, there were many roads that were covered with black ice. So I made a quick decision to delay school to try and prevent anyone from having an accident. Hopefully, all driving hazards were adverted.
I apologize for the short notice and the abrupt change this morning.
Again, I am sorry.
Dr. Andy Ashley
Superintendent

Please remember our busses will run the normal routes just on a 2-hour delay. If your normal pickup time is 7:15 then it will be 9:15 this morning.

Due to current road conditions, Heber Springs Schools will have a delayed start time this morning. Classes will begin at 10am. Please be careful.

Today we have driven over 100 miles on our bus routes, and the roads were clear and safe for buses to travel. Because of this, Heber Springs Schools will be in session tomorrow. School buses will run at their regular time. I know there still may be some driveways and side roads that could contain snow and ice. Please use extreme caution while traveling to school. To help alleviate any concerns, attendance will not be taken on Monday, February 22, 2021. Students not present on campus will be expected to complete their work virtually or may make-up the work when they return. Each family will need to make their own decision on what is best for them. Bus routes will be reevaluated in the morning to determine if there have been any changes to their condition. Notification will be sent if there are any changes.

THIRD TIMES A CHARM!
The Sr. High Football Banquet will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd at 6pm at the First United Methodist Church. If you have not sent an RSVP to Coach Wood already, please do so by 5pm Friday, February 19th. This banquet will be broadcasted LIVE on the Heber Springs Schools Facebook page.

What an amazing week for our Panthers in the beautiful snow. Many of our students, teachers, parents, and even future panthers took time to send in their pictures and videos. We had an overwhelming amount sent in and tagged with our #panthersnow21 on Facebook and Instagram that our video is definitely LONG! Apologies to anyone if we missed your submission. We hope you all had a wonderful week and hope that you enjoy the video. See you Monday!

The ACT Test scheduled for Tuesday, February 23rd, has been moved to March 9th. Please note that the original plan was for this day to be a Flex Day for our 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students...it will now be a normal school day.

Good afternoon Panthers! We are loving the pictures that are being sent in and found under #panthersnow21. Be sure to keep them coming, because Heber Springs Schools will continue with Virtual Learning for Tuesday, February 16th AND Wednesday, February 17th. We hope you all are staying warm but also making memories in the snow.

So, how was your afternoon? Plenty of pictures of kids were emailed and texted in to Mrs. Pruitt and we want to see more! Tomorrow, take some great pictures of your family, kids playing in the snow, snow angels, whatever you want and be sure to use the hashtag #panthersnow21 when posting to Facebook and Instagram. Have a great time making memories!

Hello Panther Nation!
If you haven't looked outside...it's definitely the start of a Winter Wonderland!
Heber Springs Schools will be closed for on-site learning on Monday, February 15th and will continue with virtual learning. We will make a decision about future dates at a later time.
Elementary: parents please check your email for your child's assignment.
Middle & High School: assignments will be posted to Google Classroom.
We would LOVE to see your snow pictures! Please send them in to Bahar Pruitt at bahar.pruitt@hssd.k12.ar.us and we will feature them in Dr. Ashley's weekly video!
Stay safe and stay warm...and go have fun in the snow!
