Lehfeldt Leads the Pack

What is your biggest accomplishment and why?

I’m not sure if this is my biggest accomplishment, but my favorite accomplishment would be winning the 4x800 relay at the state track meet in 2016 and then going on to break the 21 year old school record at the meet of champs. That relay was just such an incredible group of girls.

Who are some contributors to your success?

Definitely my coaches and parents. They have invested tons of time and effort into me and my sports. My coaches are great, they always have my best interest in mind and push me to go beyond my limits. My parents are great encouragers and are always supportive.

What goals did you accomplish with your team this season?

My team and I won the cross country state meet!!!!!

Who is your greatest inspiration and why?

Probably my mom. She works out every morning before anyone else even wakes up. She works hard at everything she does. One day I hope I can be just like her.

What's the toughest thing you had to overcome in order to reach your goals?

In this year’s state meet I had a really rough race. I was battling a cold, then I got two stitches, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I knew my team was counting on me and that if I quit we wouldn’t have a chance to win it all. So I had to push through for the entire 3 miles. It was definitely the hardest race of my life, but the reward was so worth it.

What would you tell a younger athlete that looked up to you?

Always keep trying. You will probably fail more times than you succeed, but the failures are what make the success so sweet, and without them you can’t learn from your mistakes.

What was your game day ritual?

We always pray before any cross country race or track relay.

What is your favorite motivational quote?

“In a race, all runners run, but only one gets the prize. Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24
